Cutting Edge Cooking Meets Cutting Edge Cooling:
The Montague Company Announces Impending Acquisition of Turbo Coil®

HAYWARD, CALIFORNIA, MAY 21, 2017.  Premier provider of high-end commercial cooking equipment, The Montague Company today announced it is in the process of acquiring Baldwin Park, California-based Turbo Coil Refrigeration Systems, Inc., an award-winning manufacturer of advanced evaporator coils, prep tables, chef bases and more.  It is anticipated the transaction will be concluded within the next 30 to 60 days.

The purchase will unite two companies well known throughout the foodservice community for their quality, craftsmanship and willingness to push boundaries:  Montague with its lineage of over 160 years manufacturing professional equipment such as Excalibur Cooking Suites, Legend, Vectaire and Technostar brands; and Turbo Coil with innovations such as the Dual-Zone Forced-Air Refrigerated Prep Table plus the R290/glycol chef base.

Having a strategic alliance for the past 3-1/2 years, Montague has already incorporated Turbo Coil technology into key equipment custom suites and products —and with impressive results, as evidenced by the Glycol Ice and Heat Sauté Station, winner of the National Restaurant Association’s (NRA) Kitchen Innovations® 2015 Award.  And Turbo Coil is no stranger to the podium, having taken home Kitchen Innovations® Awards for the last four consecutive years, most recently in 2017 for their Dual Zone Mega-Top Prep Table.

Applause from the foodservice industry

The acquisition is expected to pave the way for Montague to more fully leverage Turbo Coil’s innovative refrigeration expertise and technological prowess, enabling them to continue delivering new styles of time-saving designs that let chefs push the limits of what’s possible.

Industry pundits also agree that the decision will be well received by operators, who are looking for both talent and technological advantages to create the tempting dishes that keep discriminating diners coming back for more.

Formal announcement at the NRA Show

Tom Whalen, Montague President and CEO, is slated to make a formal announcement at this year’s NRA show running May 20-23 in Chicago.  “Competition in the restaurant business is fierce, which puts the onus on us to keep delivering cutting edge equipment,” he says.  “Embracing and incorporating Turbo Coil’s technology and expertise ensures we can carry on that mission, and will propel us well into the future.”

Hector Delgadillo, Turbo Coil’s CEO, is equally upbeat.  “From the very start, Turbo Coil has been a proven innovator, won many awards, and holds many patents that have benefitted the foodservice industry,” he says.  “We’re excited to be empowered to do more of what we know best as part of the Montague team.”  Delgadillo is expected to play a significant role in Montague’s sales organization.
